Q: I believe that walking a golf course with a caddy is fundamental to the way the game was meant to be played.  Furthermore, I believe the only way to unlock the secrets of a golf course is to enjoy it on foot.  With that being said, there appears to be a lot of distance from green to tee, is it the intent that this will be a riding golf course?

A: Huntsman Springs was designed and built around a vast network of existing seasonal water flows, wetlands, and wildlife habitat.  There are instances where the back tees are farther from the previous green than would be found on a traditional walking course.  When longer walks do occur, one is allowed to interact with those natural features, adding to the overall golf experience at Huntsman Springs.  There are shortcuts to further forward tees for those walking, and the soft overall topography of the course make for a very manageable walk.  Part of our firm's philosophy is "walk if you can, ride if you must" and walking with one of the clubs friendly and knowledgeable caddies will certainly be a great way to enjoy your round and gain some helpful tips to make your way around the course.  Keep an eye out for the bald eagles fishing out of the pond near the fourth tee, it's a real site to see!

Q: How long is the golf course and how does the golf course accommodate a variety of skill levels, the photos make the course look really hard.

A: The course ranges in length from 7,800 to 5,500 and there is a set of family and junior tees in each of the fairways as we build the course. One of our challenges on this project has been the elevation 6100' +/-, the ball travels greater distances, especially for players that strike the ball solid. We have only added length to the furthest back tee sets so the course is playable for everyone. The photos are certainly dramatic. We expect the golf course to be challenging yet appropriate, greens are very large and fairways very wide. Each hole has it's own mystery, clues are everywhere such as slopes that direct the ball toward a desired landing area, or toward the green. Every hole provides options for the ball to be played along the humps and bumps of the ground or in the air. We're excited about how the course is progressing and look forward to finishing soon.

Q: Will Huntsman Springs be a Family oriented facility?

A: Huntsman Springs has taken into account the family experience from day one.  We are having Family tees built during construction of the course.  Our family tees will range in distance from 300 - 200 yards out from our greens complex's on all par 4 and par 5's.  Our thoughts behind building the family tees is to provide young children and beginners with a positive and fun experience while learning the game of golf here at Huntsman Springs.
