Pond Fishing at Huntsman Springs
Our world class ponds are strategically located throughout our 600 acre wildlife refuge at Huntsman Springs. This area lies just west of the golf course, and is accessed by our raised boardwalk. Our seven ponds are several acres each and have been planned with solar panel powered aerators to sustain the fish population. Our ponds were stocked several years ago with small Rainbow and native Cutthroat trout and with abundant natural feed consisting of terrestrials, mayflies and caddis, these fish have grown to enormous proportions. They range in size from two to twelve ponds, providing world-class pond fishing. As they cruise the center and edges of the ponds, they are immediately attracted to the cast of a well placed artificial fly. This is truly challenging pond fishing, but they can be caught and the challenge makes the rewards all the more sweeter. When you hook these beauties, they give you the fight of your life.
John Pehrson, our in house fly fishing coordinator, is anxious to give you a casting lesson, if needed. For those of you who are more experienced, he will show you the finer points of pond fishing at Huntsman Springs. Don’t forget to ask about fly casting and fishing lessons, or a full fly fishing experience on our famous ponds.
